Derbyshire Autism Services (DAS) is a vibrant and developing charity working with children and adults in support, development, and leisure activities in the community. We believe in the abilities and potential of our service users. Do you have the empathy and skills to work alongside someone wishing to access our services?
Could you support a child, young person, or adult to improve life skills, build confidence, work on communication skills, increase familiarity with everyday situations, prepare for employment or just relax and enjoying leisure activities, such as swimming or the cinema? We support our clients to achieve their own objectives for personal development.
Our Family Support Workers provide support locally to them for a set number of hours per week, with hours and areas to suit. We also have several clients who would prefer a male worker.
DAS are interested in hearing from a wide range of applicants who care about and enjoy making a difference for people with Autism and in supporting them to reach their potential. We are looking for applications from anyone and in particular; people with autism, parents of people with Autism, from BAME communities or with experience of working in BAME communities, anyone is welcome.
Awareness of Autism is desirable but not essential, as we will provide training and close support. Experience of working with children, young people, adults, and their families is desirable.
Applicants must hold a full driving licence, have access to a car, be able to secure business insurance and must pass a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
